Around nine months ago, a client came to us with the goal of ranking Top-1 for the keyword “real estate” in the UAE. It’s worth mentioning a bit about the real estate niche in the UAE – right now, it’s one of the most expensive and rapidly developing markets in the world. Its investment appeal is off the charts, and the competition among developers and real estate agencies is even tougher.

Our challenge was clear yet demanding: we needed to make our client the absolute leader in this niche for the most competitive keyword in the region.

Key Query Parameters: "Real Estate"

The goal was ambitious, but we were up for the challenge.

What strategy did we choose?

We analyzed the search results and found that the top rankings included a lot of press releases (handled by the client’s PR team), as well as directory and forum links, with relatively little outreach in place.

Our Plan

  • Start building link volume through submissions and directories
  • Gradually incorporate crowd marketing
  • Run an experiment by adding a large volume of unconventional links from the Q&A platform Quora, which isn’t typically used in this niche
  • Finally, safely push the query to the top with guest posts

The total amount spent on link building was $10,000.

What results did we achieve?

Let’s start by looking at the project’s starting point in September 2021:

Traffic to the site grew significantly—by more than 30 times!

What did we achieve by June 2022?

The number of keywords skyrocketed—growing by dozens of times!

And what about the main keyword, “real estate”?

Looking at the data from September 2021, here’s what we see:

Conclusions

We’re always excited to work in new niches and take on challenging projects. Once again, we succeeded: we managed to outrank even Wikipedia, securing the #1 spot for not only a highly competitive but also a highly prestigious business keyword!
